Emotional Glass Ceiling
I am sure you have noticed that it is becoming ok for men to cry. NPR did a story on how public figures from House Republican leader John Boehner to sport stars are crying in public – and we are admiring it. The macho ideal is not being replaced with by the sensitive man.
A double standard exist, we don’t allow our women of power to cry. We would see that as weakness. Women are restrained by a glass ceiling of emotional expression. It will be interesting to see who breaks that glass ceiling.
