If you read my other posts you know that I am a huge fan of the body and its direct connection to the unconscious, the real driver of the bus.
I was initiated into somatic psychology and therapies by a founder, Ron Kurtz back in the late 70’s. I was honored to be one of his first students. He planted a seed that grew into to a whole tree of experience and knowledge. 35 yrs later somatic psychology is now accepted as one of the leading edges of therapy. The problem is finding qualified teachers. Because it is hot, may are claiming expertise – few process the depth I would want as a teacher.
After searching, I came across Sweigh Emily Spilkin. As a therapist she is leading her field in training other therapists and men, yes men as part of the AMP staff. Here training – The Somatic Trauma Training*I know will rock. If you want the short course in having your body be your ally, take this course. She is located in Boulder, CO. So if you are near Boulder you have no excuse.
If you don’t take the course I strongly recommend you delve more into somatic psychology. It works, it is fun and it lasts. Somatic’s body-mind approach is alignment with my principles of: we aren’t bad or broken and it more physiology than psychology.
*Sweigh has offered me small affiliate fee if a friend/reader takes her course. If you follow me you know I don’t recommend many things affiliated or not. If you have any questions, I am sure she would be glad to answer them.
