Remarkable men show up in many forms. An old friend sent me this article on Pancho Ramos Stierle a man who gave up his Ph.D. program at University of California at Berkeley to change the world one mediation at a time.
The articles chronicles Pancho’s story of civil disobedience which began with is conversation with a janitor at Berkeley. Pancho repeatedly put himself in harm’s way to be arrest for just sitting and mediating. His charge was often disturbing the peace.
What was moving was how his conversations with the police and jailors had these people going from abusing him to helping him. His secret weapon – love.
It is easy to say I accept others and possibly love them. Yet I doubt I could hold that state when they are deliberately hurting me. I am a fighter and smart ass. Certainly as a teenage I got my friends and myself in trouble on several occasions because of my mouth.
Read the story about a man who is embodying today what Gandhi practice last century.
