How to Get Out Fear.
We all have fear. We always will have fear. Fear is good. Without fear, we would not survive.
The problem is not fear. It’s the conscious and unconscious story we tell ourselves. It’s how we frame it.
Fear in the moment warns us. Fear of the past or future can limit us.
When we had fear in the past, and for societal, physical, or relational reasons, we could not feel it and take action—that fear is not released. The accumulation of unfelt or unacted upon free builds up in our bodies and heads.
We can continue to operate with our adapted model of fear.
To lean. Into fear, is to feel the fear AS you take action. Just feeling a little will slowly release old fear and retrain your nervous system not to panic. Your body and emotions learn not to go into the freeze state or reactionary behaviors.
The No Fear approach is BS. It’s Know Fear in your body. Feel how your body wants to run or freeze. Feel your pattern come up—then take the littlest action. It’s much better to take a little mindful action than a lot of disconnection action. You may get more done in the short term being disconnected, but you will not heal your fear.
Escaping Fear
Speak a particular fear. What is your pattern for dealing with or denying that fear that limits you?
As you speak your fear, feel it. Speak what you feel, AS you feel it.
Next, commit to one small action you can take in the next week that has you begin to shift how you respond to the fear.
Track your success. Accept you will not always succeed at your task nor shift fear in the moment. The fact that you tried is a win – you are a little less frozen by fear.
