What scares us more than anything?
Being vulnerable. Revealing our raw emotions in front of other people.
As men we are trained to be stoic, so it takes courage for us to even consider exposing our emotional vulnerability to other men. It takes courage for a man to show up to a men’s group and open himself up.
That said, he quickly learns that he only shares what he wants to. In fact, he learns he’s actually in one of the safest places he could be emotionally.
So then why are men opening up in men’s groups?
Simply, because it feels good.
Just being real with other men is revitalizing. These groups aren’t therapy groups, although they can be therapeutic. They are men being real emotionally with each other, telling the truth as men tell the truth.
The film About Men depicts the Sandpoint Men’s Group during the beautiful month of July through the stories of four men. You get to sit with these men in their group. You also watch these men take what they do in the groups out into their lives.
The film will be released January 2014 first in Denmark, then worldwide.
