We went from a president that marketed fear and terror to one that markets hope and change. We went from a president that played to our lessor self to a president that plays to our higher self.
Marketing hope assumes that we have the power to create something better, that we are not just at the effect of our circumstances. Simple, but a huge leap. President Obama yesterday asked us to take responsibility for creating the change we want. It is this hope that becomes the spark that ignites change.
Seth Godin understands hope is so often what marketers sell. If Obama is anything, he is a marketer. Him and his people understand that America needs hope if we are to recover economically and morally. He veered from others yesterday in his inauguration speech when he didn’t focus on what he was promising to do for us – he requested that we step up to co-create this change.
What is your hope, the hope that lights your fire of change?
